Meet Matt Foley

Founder & CEO

Matt Foley is a retired FBI Special Agent with 21 years of experience in Counterintelligence, Counterterrorism, Cyber, and Insider Threat. He served in multiple FBI Field Offices and as a Supervisory Special Agent at FBI Headquarters. He has extensive experience briefing high-level government officials, C-Suite executives, and security professionals on insider risk, cybersecurity and fraud awareness, foreign targeting of sensitive commercial and dual-use technologies, and protection of intellectual property.

From 2016 - 2018, Mr. Foley served as an FBI Headquarters Program Manager for counterproliferation investigations across all 56 Field Offices.

Mr. Foley was the FBI Regional Counterintelligence Working Group Coordinator from 2013 - 2015 covering the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes Regions, and also served as the FBI Louisville Strategic Partnership Coordinator.

From 2006 - 2010, Mr. Foley served as an FBI Liaison to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Security and Counterintelligence. In this role, he investigated foreign targeting of sensitive dual-use technologies and provided security awareness briefings for DOE personnel.

Mr. Foley was the recipient of the 2020 BG Richard T. Ellis Award for Excellence in HUMINT Collaboration and received six citations for special achievement from the FBI.

Mr. Foley is now the Founder & CEO of Foley Security Associates LLC, which is comprised of former federal law enforcement and intelligence officials with decades of experience helping private sector organizations, U.S. Government Agencies, and the U.S. Department of War protect critical assets and intellectual property. He is a member of the Kentucky Intellectual Property Alliance, the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, and is a Greater Louisville Inc Business Investor.
